Bricklaying (Beverley)
The Bricklaying courses are College-based qualifications designed to offer you a route into the construction industry. They are hands-on, practical courses, which consist of a range of units, all which develop skills and underpinning knowledge needed to progress and achieve. You will be guided by our outstanding tutors and our excellent training facilities which provide a real work experience to help you progress and achieve.
Study at Level:
Bricklaying courses are offered at Level 1 and Level 2.
Level 1
- How to carry out safe working practices in construction
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Building methods and construction technology
- Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
- Thin joint masonry cladding
- Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- Building cavity walling forming masonry structures
Level 2
- How to carry out safe working practices in construction
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Building methods and construction technology
- Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
- Thin joint masonry cladding
- Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- Building cavity walling forming masonry structures
Level 1 Diploma
There are no formal entry requirements for the Level 1 Diploma though the learner would need to complete a satisfactory interview, be able to provide a suitable reference, and have a genuine interest in the subject,
Level 2 Diploma
- Achievement of the level 1 Diploma qualification at the required standard.
- A minimum of two GCSEs Grade D/3 or above
- A satisfactory interview
- Satisfactory record of achievement/references from level 1
- Completion of the construction specific assessment and initial assessment
Completion of these courses may act as a good preparation for an apprenticeship, further or higher study, or a role in industry on a construction site. Opportunities may also be available in other areas of construction such as plastering or tiling, as much of the knowledge and skills learned on the course are transferable.
