Engineering (Beverley)
Its an exciting time to train as an engineer due to the many opportunities and industries that it serves. Our engineering courses are a combination of theory and practical, which align to the needs of our local and regional employers. Learners will have access to a state of the art workshop and resources along with expert guidance from our industry experienced tutors.
Units within engineering typically cover machining, fitting techniques, maintenance, problem solving and maths.
Study at Level:
- Level 2 Diploma (1 year)
- Level 3 Diploma (1 year)
- Level 3 T Level in Engineering, Manufacture and Processing Control (2
years)

What you will study at level 3 / T Level
- Engineering and environmental health and safety
- Engineering organisational efficiency and improvement
- Computer-aided design (CAD) techniques
- Computer numerical control (CNC)
- Programming/machining
- General engineering maintenance techniques
Level 2 Four GCSEs grade at grade C / 4 or above or level 1 diploma
Level 3 Achievement of the level 2 diploma
T Level Four GCSEs grade at grade C / 4 or above, including Maths (grade 5 minimum) & English (grade 4).Or successful completion of the level 2 course, including Maths (grade 5 minimum) & English (grade 4).
Work experience is encouraged but is not compulsory on the level 2 & 3 courses.
The T Level course requires learners to complete an extended industry placement of 315 hours minimum (approx 45 days). Learners will be supported in this element of their course to ensure the course requirements are met.
As part of the study programme, tutors will endeavor to arrange guest speakers and visits to relevant work environments and/or manufacturers to gain an understanding of the processes of the industry. Parental/guardian permission for trip is essential and will be sought at the beginning of the course to prevent delays or disappointment.
During your course, we ensure you develop employability skills and gain the relevant experience for your next steps. On completion of your course the choices can be further study, an apprenticeship or a move into industry. We will provide information, advice and support during your course so you can make informed choices based on your career aspirations.
