About This Course
Want a career that is rewarding and fun, working with children can offer that, learn about all aspects of working with children on our Foundation degree programme .
There are three key themes in the programme: knowledge of the education, development and care of young children 0-8; the professional development of practitioners; and the continuing development of excellence in practice in local settings.
Appropriate knowledge and understanding of early childhood is embedded, together with skills relating to the use of ideas and information in the workplace context, and the ability to relate theory to practice in a reflective and critical manner.
Full Course SpecificationStandard
Level 3 qualification in a related topic area such as early years, health and social care or Access to HE.
GCSE maths and English Grade 4/C or above.
Non Standard
This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and there may be an opportunity for students to enrol through APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning), APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) if these are deemed relevant by the programme leader and the college admissions department.
All modules are mandatory and are worth 20 credits each.

A range of assessment techniques will be used such as essays, reports, presentations, padlet, academic posters and professional development portfolios.
The course will be delivered through blended learning approach of lectures and seminars with the opportunity for individual and group work as well as some online sessions. All students will undertake private study to complement and extend the learning in the classroom. In addition, all students will have regular tutorials and implement learning in the workplace.
