About This Course

Our music department tailors your programme of study to your individual ambitions, with performance, technology, composition and music business pathways. It has been designed by musicians, for musicians.

We help developing artists, writers, producers and technicians to unlock their potential and pursue a career in the industry. On both music and performing arts programmes you will have plenty of opportunities to perform.

What You Will Learn

Level 2

  • Professional development – including exploring music styles, portfolio creation and self-promotion
  • Performance – including live and studio performance skills and techniques (solo/band)
  • Studio/live production – project based work exploring Audio and MIDI in a studio environment
  • Studio/live engineering – project based work exploring equipment and techniques for a live sound environment
  • Final major project – you will work to a given ‘commercial brief’ in which you will provide a music product/performance using all the creative and technical skills you’ve developed over the course

Entry Requirements

Level 2

Four GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English. Or a Level 1 Diploma (or equivalent).

Level 3

Four GCSEs grade C/4 or above to include English. Or a Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent).

What Next?

Successful completion of Level 2 will lead directly on to the Level 3 programme.

Upon completion of Level 3, students can continue onto further or higher study such as our Level 4 HNC which progresses to Level 5 HND; as a culmination for our artist development programme, degrees in popular music, music technology, commercial music or performing arts.

Many students go on to employment or become self-employed in the music industry directly as a result of studying on this course.
