Our performing arts courses are designed to help you initially develop your skills in all disciplines as that is what the industry wants! We start by achieving a good grounding in all areas of performing arts and allow you to develop and refine your skills in your chosen specialism(s) when you progress to the 2nd year of level 3.
On our performing arts programmes you will have plenty of opportunities to perform – both live in theatre and to a camera in TV & Film work.

Level 2
Professional Development:

Rehearsal Skills:
- Fundamentals of rehearsal techniques in acting, dance, singing and musical theatre

Performance Skills:
- Develop your stage presence and confidence for live theatre performances
- Understand the specific demands of performing for TV and film work
- Audience awareness and connection in being able to provide your customers with an experience they won’t forget
Production Skills:
- Gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of stage crew and technical teams
- Learn basic principles of health and safety in a performance environment
- Explore how production enhances performance
Level 3
Professional Development:
- Master essential auditioning skills, including self-promotion, preparation strategies, and performance delivery under pressure
- Develop proficiency in research techniques specific to the performing arts, enabling you to critically analyse and utilize relevant information
- Develop valuable transferable skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time management, applicable in diverse professional contexts
Rehearsal Skills:
- Deepen your understanding of how to deliver and receive constructive criticism effectively, fostering personal and collective growth
- Delve into the rich history and diverse styles of performing arts, gaining a broader context for your artistic development
- Learn the fundamentals of directing, including script analysis, staging techniques, and working collaboratively with actors and production teams
Performance Skills:
- Hone your skills in acting, singing, and dancing, mastering advanced techniques for stage presence, character development, and vocal and physical expressivity
- Explore the unique demands of acting for film and television, including working with camera angles, incorporating subtext, and adapting performance to different mediums
- Develop advanced skills in audience engagement, mastering techniques to build rapport, connect emotionally, and create a captivating and impactful performance experience
Production Skills:
- Gain an understanding of various production roles beyond technical aspects, including marketing, finance, and fundraising
- Develop leadership and management skills necessary to effectively lead and collaborate with technical teams in a production environment
- In-depth exploration of fundamental technical aspects such as lighting design, sound design, and set design, fostering a comprehensive understanding of theatrical production processes
These courses are assessed through practical activities and written coursework depending on the subject matter. Coursework and practical assessments are based on realistic workplace situations and live assignments where appropriate. Evidence is not always prescribed so presenting the work can be done in a variety of ways that work for you!
Level 2
Three GCSEs grade D/3 or above. Or a Level 1 Diploma (or equivalent).
Level 3
Four GCSEs grade C/4 or above with English or Maths being preferred (not essential). Or a Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) at Merit level.
If however you just miss out on the above entry requirements, considerations can still be made with a successful interview process and a probationary period put in place (at tutor discretion).
Successful completion of Level 2 at merit level or pass level with tutor discussion can lead directly onto our Level 3 programme.
The Level 3 course is ideal if you're planning to progress to further or higher education in acting, musical theatre, dance and singing as well as areas linking to production. It can also help you to pursue a career in the performing arts, whether as a singer, dancer, actor, musical theatre performer or more – the possibilities are endless.
