Skills for Working Life (Bridlington)
The purpose of this qualification is to provide an opportunity for learners to develop a wide range of personal, social and work-related skills that will enable them to become more independent and potentially gain appropriate work-related skills.
Study at Level:
- Entry Level 2
- Level 3
Core units - these are mandatory and include:
- Dealing with problems in daily life
- Working as part of a group
- Individual rights and responsibilities
- Healthy living
- Managing your own money
You will also study/complete:
- English and mathematics
- Work-related activity
- Enterprise activity
There will be a mixture of classroom and external contact.
There are no formal entry requirements but you must have:
- A satisfactory college interview
- Suitable references and/or assessment matched to individual learner needs
- Appropriate level of English and Mathematics
Learners will undertake a variety of external community projects which will assist the learners to develop their work-related skills.
External trips and visits will be fundamental to course delivery. Regular trips into Bridlington or the wider East Riding area will be undertaken in order that learners have the opportunity to further expand and develop their independence skills.
Many learners progress to more advanced courses within the Foundation area at East Riding College these may include a Supported Internship route which may lead to future employment.
