About This Course

NEW FOR 2024! Fancy a Sports course which is different to the rest?  Welcome to the Level 2 and Level 3 NCFE Sports and Exercise Qualifications with a focus on the Outdoor Pathway! These courses are designed for individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career in the sports and exercise sector, particularly in outdoor activities and adventure sports.

Ideal for those who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy working with nature, this qualification provides the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in a variety of outdoor sports professions.

Equally, don’t worry if you do not want to pursue a career in the outdoors – the courses will offer the foundations in the principles of sport and exercise so that you can follow a variety of different HE options in the field of Sport and Exercise, or a pathway to careers such as physiotherapist, leisure manager, physical training instructor, outdoor education instructor, sports coach to name a few.

The core subjects will be complemented by enrichment activities and the opportunity to gain Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards, taking part in expeditions within the UK.

Assessment is based on the completion of assignment work and observation of practical individual and group tasks and activities.

Entry Requirements

Level 2

A minimum of three GCSEs at Grade 3.

Level 3

A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above.

Work Experience

You will take part in relevant and valuable work experience in the leisure sector to further develop your employability skills for your future.  This will take place over one term per year where you will show an interest in the sport sector of your choice.

You will be given a multitude of opportunities to gain experience in sporting environments - students who have worked in particular sectors have stayed beyond their work experience and gained employment.

 

Trips, Visits & Guest Speakers

Trips include - North Yorkshire Water Park, University of Coventry (Scarborough Campus), expeditions within the outdoors linked to Duke of Edinburgh and outdoor modules. Practical sessions may take place at an outstanding local facility.

What Next?
