Care Leavers Scholarship Guidance

During the academic year 2024/25, East Riding College is set to award four scholarships to Care Leavers pursuing higher education programs within the TEC Partnership at the UCG campus. These scholarships will cover the entire duration of their course, extending up to three years of study.

This will include:

  • Tuition fees – The TEC Partnership will fund tuition fees throughout the duration of the higher education program within its institution, with a maximum coverage of three years, or two years for Foundation Degrees or HNC/HND courses
  • Accommodation for 52 weeks will be provided during this time 
  • £875 worth of college credits will be provided each year to go towards meals on campus 
  • £4,000/year will be provided for maintenance/travel subsidy, payable in instalments as weekly BACS payments

This scholarship is available to applicants following an application, assessment and selection process. If you think you might be eligible, apply now to be considered for one of these life-changing scholarships. The closing date for applications is 31st March 2025. 

Support grants

During the academic year 2024/25, 400 support grants, with a maximum value of £250 each, will be granted based on a personalised assessment of needs. These grants can be applied for at any point throughout the year but applicants must participate in a one-to-one meeting addressing their support requirements to qualify for consideration.

Students with learning difficulties or disabilities should apply for the Disabled Students Allowance in the first instance. For further information, visit www.direct.gov.uk website.

Subject to financial circumstances, the college may be able to offer support in funding diagnostic assessments for specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

This grant is not intended to pay for costs normally covered by Student Loans. Applications may be means tested and awards are allocated according to need.
