Apprenticeships

Engineering Design Technician

Engineering Design Technicians work across industries such as power, water, oil and gas, nuclear, renewables, defence and pharmaceuticals. They specialise in one of five areas: electrical power, control and instrumentation, mechanical, piping or structural design.

Engineering Fitter

This occupation is found in manufacturing and process industries, producing complex, high-value, low-volume components and assemblies such as turbines, cranes, gearboxes and production lines.

Engineering Maintenance Technician

Electrical and control and instrumentation maintenance technicians work with electrical, control and instrumentation systems. This may include motors, single-phase and three-phase systems, power supplies, low- and high-voltage electrical distribution systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), flow meters, heat exchangers and safety controls.

Engineering Manufacturing Technician

Engineering Manufacturing Technicians work in engineering and manufacturing organisations across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, marine and defence. Their main role is to provide technical support to engineers by helping develop, manufacture, test and improve products and processes to meet customer requirements.

Engineering Operative

Engineering Operatives support manufacturing and engineering businesses by carrying out a wide range of technical and practical tasks. The role can vary between sectors, but core engineering skills and knowledge remain consistent.

Machining Technician

Machining Technicians work in the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) sector, including aerospace, automotive, maritime defence, nuclear and construction. They produce complex, precision-machined components for industries such as machinery, vehicles, aircraft, medical equipment and domestic appliances.

Mechatronics Maintenance Technician

Multi-skilled Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians work across industries such as aerospace, automotive, defence, logistics, pharmaceuticals and advanced manufacturing, maintaining complex automated equipment using mechanical, electrical, electronic, control and fluid power systems.
